They want to break the blockade that Israel impose on Gaza (whatever your opinion on it,justified or not).

For them, it's a win-win. If they get to Gaza,then they are successful. They symbolically broke the blockade,which for them they achieve their goal and they can do unmitigated reporting from Gaza. This, in turn, could lead to more and bigger ships to try and break the blockade. 

If Israel arrests them and stop the floatilla,it just strengthen their position. They forced Israel to stop a humanitarian operation. This is a bad PR for Israel in general and the policy of the blockade specifically. 

People in Israel tend to downplay the effect of such things on our collective detriment. I would like to mention the Christian "turn the other cheek",which isn't really about forgiveness,it's a provocation. When a Roman solider slaps you and your turn the other cheek,you are provoking him to slap you agian with the backhand,which is more insulting and help to recruit people to your cause agianst the unnecessary violent oppressor. This is the same thing,they provoke Israel and Israel falls for the bait,as people in Israel (and /Israel) seem to think that the IDF takeover of the floatilla is some epic win. What the world saw is a powerful state arresting unarmed people with food and diapers,not a good image.

A good example,without making parallels,is the sit-ins in the civil rights movement in the US. A group sitting in the White only areas at restaurants,even if successful,won't end segregation as a whole. But the fact that almost all of the time they were removed violently, that garnered sympathy from the general population, which is arguably the bigger goal.

They will report from inside Gaza, speaking to children, sick, visit hospitals, visit aid distribution centres, they might even meet Hamas, maybe do some interview with Hamas, they might say the people of the world (44 countries) are standing by the Palestinian people. They will tell them about the world news, large protest rallies in cities around the world.

It's just "uncontrolled" and "unpredictable", its hard to say these mostly western liberal left Pro-Palestinian activists will do. They might incite the Gaza population to march to the Rafah border or Karem Shalom demanding it to open its doors, they might tell them the thousands of food trucks waiting outside of Gaza or in the warehouses at the borders.

The last large flotilla resulted in the IDF slaughtering multiple aid workers.

Nine total were killed.

Autopsies found some had 5-6 bullet entrance wounds and were shot multiple times at close range. The youngest killed, an American teenager still in high school, was shot 3 times in the back of the head.

IDF soldiers were later found to have looted the dead's personal belongings after the slaughter.

The initial response from Israel was the usual. Deny responsibility, praise the IDF soldiers, and then blame the victims for their own deaths (some things never change).

It took years but Netanyahu finally admitted the IDF was in the wrong for the flotilla murders, issued a formal apology, and paid out $20 million in restitution.

Israel is going to do exactly what it did last time - warn them over the radio to turn around and if they don't comply, board the vessels and divert them to Ashdod port. Most people would be questioned and then deported back where they came. Greta might be in bigger trouble than the rest because it's not her first time and she's been warned already, so Israel is within its right to arrest her, though I doubt it'd happen. Also, if anyone on board shows up as having ties with Hamas they most likely be arrested and put on trial. The boats might be confiscated as well.

If all they have is humanitarian aid, then they can be anyways indicted for trespassing into a closed military zone. If they also possess weapons to smuggle, this is a very serious offense and can lead to significant jail time. Further, attempting to breach a military blockade, that very thing alone gives Israel the right for the seizure and sale of the boats which they attempted this on. 

IIRC Israel is still holding the boats from the last two attempts and is currently suing to foreclose on them. In that case Israel will gain the lawful possession of about sixty boats, including some nice yachts and can resell them at auction, with the proceeds benefiting the treasury.

No the flotilla stunt is not some humanitarian effort or a super scheme to help Hamas. Its just Greta and her weird friends doing a publicity stunt to get clicks and attention because she's becoming irrelevant. If Greta actually cared she'd be in Ukraine volunteering and helping evacuate people, run soup kitchens for the displaced, or helping setup refugee centers in Sweden. Or she could be screaming about the actual genocide and famine in Sudan, but that doesn't get clicks, and clicks = money/attention, so she won't.

Greta has no real intention of helping if she was interested she'd be doing any of that or setting up an aid program that helps get food into Gaza through the proper UN channels, she could still film that to get her clicks, she won't because thats too difficult and lame.

Let the ships land, inspect the cargo for any nefarious contraband, disburse the aid to the correct channels for distribution. 

If the flotilla initiates any violence, make sure it’s documented in order to show the world the entire operation was a sham. 

The absolute dumbest thing Israel could do is to attack the ships without explicit evidence or provocation.

I've seen it said a lot, why not let them through. I've thought about it myself. But really I think people are underestimating the issue of precedent sets for policies like these. When a country draws a line and makes a rule, it needs to enforce it always, or it loses the ability to enforce it ever.

Chances are, these ships are carrying aid. But they'd still want to be sure. The fear for political and military leadership, if there is one, is being forced to just wave them through under international pressure. That a bunch of celebrities getting hassled causes such backlash that countries try and prevent reasonable security checks. And so now there is a security gap. And the next flotilla might have more than just aid. Because it's not like arms smuggling hasn't been a huge historical issue. That is ironically, the military value in this seemingly humanitarian mission.

And it's not exactly a new strategy here. Abuse the boundaries, push past the line. And either you get to plant your flag passed it, establish you can break the rules, or have the rules slammed down and get to cry to sympathetic media about how unfair it is. There is no losing, well, until tolerance for that breaks and that is a bad day for everyone.

This way Israel can give evidence to the world that it is not intentionally starving the Palestinians and Egypt was the reason why not enough aid has crossed the border. Worst case scenario, there will be abundance of food, baby formula and medical supplies in Gaza.

You're not jumping the gun.  They've used violence against previous flotillas.  We should expect it again. 

The method is in question, since attention seems to be higher this time. Personally, my expectation is they'll quietly give a go-ahead to pirates or other criminals, or maybe masquerade as such, then swoop in and "rescue" everyone (by forcibly removing them).
